Jim Selth is an incredible attorney – I came to him after trying to negotiate payment with a debtor for years on my own, to no avail. I had actually been taken for a ride by an attorney at a different firm whom I hired initially, who ran circles around me and charged exorbitant fees without giving any work product or results. I had pretty much given up on the matter and was afraid to retain counsel a second time, but thankfully I decided to try one more time and took a leap of faith in retaining Jim. From the initial consultation, I could tell things would be different – where the other attorney required me to spend hours putting together background materials for him, and looped in other counsel to offer their (conflicting) opinions, Jim was able to distill the facts and understand my case within 15 minutes. He also gave me his honest opinions on what paths we could take, what would be a good use of my money and what would not, which I appreciated after having gotten an expensive runaround from the previous attorney. Jim got to work on the collections process the next morning, and I was stunned when the debtor’s party came to the table in short order. I couldn’t believe it. In a few days, Jim was able to accomplish what I had spent three years trying to do in vain. And he was a pleasure to deal with the entire time – professional, efficient, quick, and responsive. I wish I hired Jim earlier, but nonetheless feel very lucky that I eventually did, and I would absolutely recommend him for legal work. You won’t find better.

We recently engaged the services of Dan Weintraub of Weintraub & Selth, APC, a legal firm located in Los Angeles. We were looking for someone who could BK an LLC, quickly, reasonably and fairly. We interviewed several attorneys, Weintraub was by far the most knowledgeable, providing easy to understand scenarios of various options. Weintraub fit the bill, not only did he BK the LLC in minimal time, but he also saved lots of money by suggesting a cheaper, quicker and more effective alternative.

We could not have been more pleased. He and his staff did it all, our only involvement was receiving timely updates. Hopefully we don’t have to go through another BK, but if we do, Weintraub is the only attorney we would trust.

Dan is the smartest and best Chapter 11 Bankruptcy lawyer in Los Angeles. I interviewed every one I could find who specializes in this area and was lucky to find and retain Dan. It is hard to prevail in a Chapter 11 case, less than 10% of cases come out in the debtor’s favor. Dan won my case and saved my business and our real property. AMAZING RESULTS are not cheap but this was worth it.

Over the years I have dealt with many lawyers in multiple situations. As I mentioned to you briefly, a case study about the financial restructuring of a company I led as CEO has been used as part of the syllabus in the Financial Restructuring class in the Business School at Duke University. This class is also attended by students in the Law School from the same university. I write to you to acknowledge and thank you for the top-notch advice I received from you during a recent case. Your counsel was not only right from a legal perspective, but also sensitive to the multiple factors and circumstances surrounding it. I will be glad to come back to you for future counsel and to be used as reference for you in the future.

Dan, it’s nice to see that your business keeps growing and growing. Thanks to your genius, Banner Mattress continues to prosper. As you know a lot of hard work and a little genius (my husband’s) goes a long way!  You are often thought about and mentioned in love when Geno and I reflect on our business success.

I hired Jim to help me file Bankruptcy. With just a single fee, Jim help me with this case for almost 3 years. I requested delays for many reasons. The most important of which was to not decrease my chances of renegotiating the loan on my condo. Jim prepared the case so well, that when we finally went to court it was as painless as possible. Jim went above and beyond what most attorneys would have done. Although this was a very difficult time in my life, the upside is I met someone that I consider a good friend.

Dealing with a bankruptcy has a built-in stress factor. One is a bit saddened, a bit angry and a bit defeated. Fortunately, my wife and I had the good fortune to secure the services of the firm Weintraub & Selth, APC. They calmed the situation, easily explained the roadmap and, when called upon by the Judge, articulated the case with such professionalism and efficiency, that the Judge herself complimented the lawyer (Jim Selth) on his diligence.

When Bankruptcy is your last resort, you need someone who will be there for you! Jim Selth is the one. Here is why:
Jim is:

• Knowledgeable: He knew exactly what kind of plan we need to pursue to remedy our situation.
• Informative: Jim kept us informed throughout the process, and he explained why and what to expect every step of the way.
• Patient: He took his time to explain everything item by item, and when we did not understand something, he was kind enough to explain it again in more detail and in a language we understand not the legal complicated words.
• Sensible: Jim was also sensible. He was reasonable and wise.
• Sensitive: Jim never made us uncomfortable or judge us. He understood our situation. He treated us with respect.
• Listener: Jim took the time to listen to our story, what brought us to the situation we were in. He showed compassion and the willingness to help.
• Counselor: Jim took advantage of his experience dealing with people in similar situations we were in and provided us with guidance and very practical advice.
• Dependable: Jim proved to be more dependable than many we had considered friends when we were doing well, who suddenly disappeared when things went south. Jim stood there till the end.
• Responsive: All of the above being important, having a responsive lawyer though is the icing on the cake. When we needed an answer during the holidays, we got our answer from Jim even though he was on Vacation. That meant the world to me. I am sure it will mean the world to you too.
• Action backed words, No B.S.: Finally, there are many people who build castles for you by words; but no action. Jim was all action; not just words.

Thanks a million Jim.

Dear Jim and Dan.

I had a long drive home last night and I was reflecting on how happy and complete our lives are today and that reflection took me all the way back almost four years ago when as a very scared, totally lost, already broke and ready-to-lose-everything guy I walked in to your office and asked for help.

The story is long but interesting in that with each step one of you has been right there with us and for us – long after our professional relationship ended you have both very generously offered advice and guidance freely and quickly, and as we have gone along this road with you at each point where our position was questioned or legally challenged. The process you both took us through has stood the test of time and proven to be solid and incredibly well done.

We went through an assignment for Benefit of Creditors together and closed down our company – you made it easy and safe for us.

Then you negotiated a purchase of our company’s assets and somehow enabled us to both have jobs with the new owner that paid us good money.

Then came a scary personal bankruptcy – Jim was awesome and unbelievably obtained a “no assets” ruling from the Trustee and we walked away with no debt but able to keep our house, cars, furniture and other assets.

Jim again rescued us with great advice and a defense against the guy who owed us $45,000 from a failed business partnership, and with Jim’s sage words we were able to collect the full amount owed to us.

By the way, we sold the house in 2015 for $916,000 cash sale – and realized over $85,000 in cash after everything was closed, and decided to move on to new and exciting things out here in the desert.

Earlier this year with falling sales we decided to close the factory and have all our product made by outside sources, and now finally today the world has come full circle – effective July 1 the new owner decided the company is too small to ever provide him with the returns he needs and is going to take his losses and step away from the company, leaving us with a small company we can basically run from a little 500-square foot office two miles from our new house.

Dan provided us with an introduction to John Brunson who came to our rescue by getting us a fixed 30 year 3.25% new FHA mortgage on our new home. We love our new home and feel very blessed. I will be 101 years old when I have paid it off!

What an amazing journey you both started us on – if you would have told me 4 years ago that we would be living in a beautiful new home with a mortgage and HOA monthly due paid for by my social security, that we would have zero debt, and that we would still be running the little business we worked so hard to grow all those years ago, which also provides us with some nice perks and discretionary spending money, I would have said you were both insane and starring in your own movies – but instead you have stood by us, provided us with help and guidance and taken effectively through amazingly powerful and sound legal processes and here we are today. Our credit ratings are even back up to almost 700.

You did it – I am not sure I can ever say thank you enough – but please know we are eternally grateful to you both – and you will always have a special place in our hearts, especially when we sit on our patio in the desert looking up at the stars, cigar and single malt in hand, and feel very safe and financially secure. It is truly a wondrous peace of mind.

Thank you Jim and Dan for everything.

My Very Best Regards,

-Keith
